Thanks Claus, and just call me Bob please. Robert is the name in my passport that even my parents didn't use.....
A pity there were no more then 9 players at the start and just (6)5 at the end. I guess P5 Machine dropped out too one or two turns before the end. Maybe you can ask some of your German friends talk into it, when they are still waiting for a next game of Darkness in Germany. I guess P1 Zacketeer already was one of them.
It took a long time this game before my build-up finally succeeded and the 'steamroller' kept on going. Even without that many Mines as in last game(s) I lost a lot of ships to Sauran and I never ever had so much bad luck in practising my officers (by example: in turn 22 I had 62 level 3 Eng officers and just two on level 4). And of course I'm always hampered by the Max Shipbuilding SA.
Brian and I for a great part of the game were wondering and guessing who the hell was so much in front of us as Planet leader. There were times you were 60+ planets in front of me and I still had no idea who it was. It was not until your somewhat half-hearted attack on P4 Brian's origin that I deared to attack you and contest your ships on those countless independent planets we were doubling.
There was one lucky incident that never happened to me before: when I received the Ring Source, I found out I was the proud owner of 3 of the Ring planets. Normally I have non or 1 at the most. So apart from some unlucky Find Artefact attempts it was quite easy for me to transfer one of them on a Castle and bring 2 of them together.
And then there was a big blast......
