Since you’re going to be on National Forest property, you won’t be digging any holes so don’t worry about shoveling. You also won’t be chopping down any standing timber. If the only firewood you collect from the ground is of a size that can be broken by hand, foot, across the knee, or between two trees, you’ve eliminated the need for any axe work, as well (not to mention EMT services).
