Even closer, but on the same road to Fort Jesup, is Los Adaes. If one looks closely, they can see the original Camino Real which connected the Spainish Capitol of Texas with San Antonio. One of the old kitchens that served the garrison still stands at Fort Jesup. Much to see in the area, and Fort Jesup would be a good place to visit.
