When I was out there in January, I was unemployed (still am) so I really did hole up in the motel with a can of sardines and a box of crackers. You want to talk about some sorry timing--after more than two years of planning there was no way I was going to blow off this event, and no way to hunt a new job and immediately ask for a week off to run around in the woods with strange men.

Howsomever, I did press my nose against the glass of several establishments offering 'meat pies' on the main downtown riverwalk Nachitoches. They all came highly recommended by the local Visitors Center.
