Marching is something for which a person can prepare. Lack of sleep and having to conduct oneself as a soldier is not. I advocate preparation for the physical aspects of the event, but being dog tired and having to go on is something that will test folks. If one has done it before, there is the knowledge ethched on the brain that it can be done. If not, it will be a learning experience. But, isn't that the purpose of a true campaign event, to experience the misery of being a soldier and to realize that it sucks?
