Brother Silas,

Best to check with Cody on the kepis. It could be a dearth of decent blue-grey kersey, but that's just a guess. I know he has a new website that he's getting up and going so just because one doesn't see them on there, it doesn't mean that he can't or isn't making them. And I agree, he charges too little for what he makes.

With regard to a knapsack, as the standards state, it isn't a requirement- so if a guy is sitting on the fence about attending due to having or not having one- but it is recommended. One, if it rains, your roll will get wet and heavy and everything in it will get that way too. Second, you can't carry as many items. The time of year we'll be out and with the duration of the event, guys will want an extra shirt, some socks, comforts from home, as well as a ground cloth and blanket. Extra ammunition and perhaps some extra food tossed in with all that makes for a log-sized blanket roll. Mid-March might be wet, might be dry. Might be cold. Might be hot. Might be a little of all those things. Bottom line, we don't want anyone falling out if we could have helped it.
