So Sammy Haskell extended a national public apology to Vanessa Williams. What message does this send to young girls who are supposed to look up to Miss America? That it's okay to pose nude and that's acceptable?

She'd just be another washed up beauty queen. I think she's someone young girls can look up to, both as a precautionary tale and as an example of resilience in the face of adversity. Doesn't anyone feel that Vanessa was exploited? She was barely 18 when she posed for what she was told were artistic photographs taken in silhouette. The photographer was legitimate and not a "cheesecake" photographer. He did nothing with the photos until she was Miss America and he saw an opportunity to make big money. And let's not forget that the centerfold in the magazine that published them was 15! The whole thing is criminal and exploitative.

Vanessa William's facial expressions while judging I found almost mean or mad looking. As for her pictures, they were Penthouse photo's and they were same sex love making shots. I saw them. She was around 18 when she made them and she made them of her own free will. She knew the minute she competed in this system, that those pictures did not represent the value's of the Miss America institution. I found the apology "appalling" and so unnecessary. Welcome her back as a judge, great, that act, in and of itself, is a forgiveness of past transgressions. I agree with the poster that said, if she had reached celebrity status later in life this would not have happened. Absolutely. This was Sam Haskell's attempt at boosting ratings. Dot, dash, the end, and you know what? It worked. Highest ratings in 20 years.

Vanessa Williams made a mistake, a very crucial mistake by posing for nude photographs. Vanessa paid for those mistakes by having to relinquish a crown that she earned which was a large but fair price to pay considering the event. Case closed and move on. Then this moron gets on national TV and apologizes for a group doing what was right considering the circumstances,that being, asking for her resignation as Miss America. So aren't we proud of the Miss America Organization for this apology. Some are, but the overwhelming majority are outraged. We now need to ask for Sammy's resignation.........effectively immediately!
