But before the ranking system judges would give prelim awards to undeserving contestants. So judges who want to do this can still do it under the scores only versus ranking. The ranking was not cheating because there were points assigned and it was part of the scoring process. It was not hidden. Ranking a girl last in the top five to keep her from winning is no different than giving her below a 5 in any category when she deserves much higher. I have judged under both and both work.

That's when a judge likes the ranking because it gives each judge a say in the determination of the winner once the scores reveal the top five. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]
