The first Flash Gordon hardcover book, published by Grosset & Dunlap. It's a novelization credited to Alex Raymond, but probably had a ghostwriter. Some fans say elements of the story are inconsistent with the Alex Raymond strip, and recommend the book only to Flash Gordon completists. The dust jacket art is by Robb Beebe.
Here is the dust jacket as seen on the Library Thing website.
Sgt Tim...A book about A.R. speculates that a veteran pulp editor...Donald R. Moore, of the Munsey pulp Argosy All Story Weekly, a pulp which was involved with scifi, fantasy, and adventure writers of reknown, may have been engaged in scripting Flash Gordon and Jungle Tim...but, again, it's speculation, though Moore may have been moreso in a supportive role. It says (print)syndicate might have wished to keep the focus on A.R. since he was a magnet for publicity, says he was well spoken and handsome.
I've seen this pulp cover somewhere in my travels, perhaps ebay, or somewhere on-line...this is best I recall for now.
