I find the Mars serial's abundant use of Franz Waxman's Bride of Frankenstein score to be effective and appealing.

The chapter opening piece is good, and the serial is heavy with Waxman's Bride score, which I happen to like. I can't pinpoint now, but especially enjoy FG Mars parts with "The Creation" from Bride. (Waxman's "Crucification" though was a great rousing piece in the later 1940 serial, and perhaps some of it is in Mars of '38..just don't recall.) The worst from Mars, in my opinion, was during trips (4) to the Forest Kingdom...just boring. This could have been have been reduced substantially. Subjective opinion, of course.
