Subject: Re-visiting old friends

Just finished a wonderful revisiting of a wonderful trip to Mars. I might also add that it was just as enjoyable now as it was 46 years ago. A lovely cross between the PRISONER OF ZENDA, SHE, WHO MUST BE OBEYED, ancient Rome,Vikings...and the most beautiful Olympian I have yet to see...(Buster Crabbe could have TRULY been one of the Greek Olympians...Apollo, I think.) Add to all this a shot glass of Fu Manchu, A "height of fashion" Martian Queen...(played like a NY Gun Moll), and Ed Wood rocket ships, and you have history!

Not only that, I particularly enjoyed the patchwork music, and the rowdy "let's cut 'em off at the pass" dialog of the wild west. What FUN!

Rick...you would probably know this. Was Beatrice Roberts a "protegee" of Carl Laemmle Sr.? I know that she was SOMEONE'S.

My eternal "thumbs up" to Charles Middleton and C. Montague Shaw. Both gentlemen had been acting since before the dawn of time, and took their serial roles with grace, dignity and humour. God Bless them both.

THUMBS DOWN to Donald Kerr. He STANK!

JS,

I have the most comprehensive bio on Beatrice Roberts and I know her grandson, too. Rare. I'll send it to you a little later.

Trip to Mars is a wonderful experience, I saw it in full for the first time just over a year ago. Flash Gordon '36 edges it out as my favorite, but just by a bit.

Princess Aura of Mongo is the daughter of Ming. Simply add a "z" to her name and it becomes Azura, as in Queen Azura of Mars. A simple typo could get one mixed up when discussing these two ladies, lol.
