There is no doubt as to the truth of of our leader Rick's statement. Unique among serials, the first FG intertwined the action with real sexual tension, so much so that adults flocked to see it in preference to the accompanying feature.

Jean Rogers agreed with the often-expressed general opinion that the censors of the day didn't pay much, if any, attention to serials figuring that they were mere children's fables and thus opening the door for director Stephani's mildly risque space opera. Between the revealing dresses, the erotically-charged poses and situations, the outright carnal desires of Vultan, Ming, Aura and ,yes, Flash and Dale (who can forget that last kiss?), FG brought a real adult component to its tale, thus making the '36 FG really unique among serials.

After the fallout from FG landed on Universal, they made sure that "Mars" was scrubbed squeaky clean of any sexual overtones. Still, it and "Universe" play well as examples of thirties' adventure, led by the blond saint Flash, the savior of the world if not the universe.
