(He made a soft sound in his throat, a sort of pained understanding.. because, well, he felt the same about her. Neither of them had spared a second glance at the opposite sex during their time apart. In a sense it was a sort of test for them, and since they had both passed it meant a hell of a lot about their relationship. His hand smoothed over her back as he held her, ignoring the lingering pain in his hip. There wasn't a damn thing he could do about it because his leg was surrounded in a metal vice, and the last thing he wanted to do was interrupt this moment of peace with his wife. That was what Shay did for him.. she gave him the peace of mind that he got no where else. Not even Chase gave him peace.. not when he was worried about his son's future.. whether or not he would develop the same seizure disorder his father had.. or if he would want to go into the service. Shay.. his tiny little wife.. she alone had the power to take the weight from his shoulders and simply let him be. He reveled in it, his eyes half hooded and his broad chest rising and falling evenly beneath her. He smiled as she kissed his neck, opening one eye all the way to look at her, the muscles of his stomach shying as her hand slipped between them.) A little lower.. (He teased, a sly smile crossing his features as he brought his hand up to tuck her hair back from her face. He sobered a little, just looking at her in the dim light of the room. Since the sun was setting, only a few rays were creeping through the massive skylight to wash over her.) I can't believe how amazing you are, Shay. (He said softly, saying words that would have sounded cheesy from any other man.. but he had a way of saying things that was so dead serious it was almost heart breaking. He scoffed a little as she complained of her weight, dropping his head back to the pillow.) You get any smaller and I might roll over and smother you some night. (He teased, his other arm shifting behind his neck to support his head so he could keep gazing at her.)
