Subject: Interested Husbands

Nikki and Andrea – glad you decided to restart this forum. It looked like it was just about forgotten. Let’s try to keep it going with interesting posts.

I particularly like the topic Nikki introduced about how husbands respond to feminine hygiene issues. I for one found that my husband, while not at all shy about sex, had somewhat of a hang up about discussing subjects such as douching and tampons. I used a diaphragm and jelly when we were first married, and at first inserted the diaphragm and, when needed, the applicator, in privacy in the bathroom. As I found this slightly awkward, I soon changed to keeping the birth control supplies in my nightstand, and when we got ready for sex, proceeded to prepare and insert the diaphragm on the bed while he watched. I could tell he was rather shy about watching this first time, but also was very interested. When we repeated the lovemaking, he was even more interested in watching me insert the filled applicator, and even overcame his shyness to ask some questions about it.

Since the ice was broken at this point, the next time I douched, I told him what I was going to do, and asked HIM if he’d like to watch (I didn’t think he’d ever get up the courage to ask himself, and I thought it might be fun to watch his response). He said yes, and I could tell it was with barely suppressed eagerness. His response was similar to that described by Andrea, although he didn’t ask to help that first time – that took about two more times watching, and by that time he was pretty well past the shy stage.

We share these intimate aspects of our life together, and both enjoy them as another way to have some fun together.

Hope others will share their experiences in this area.
