Rob: In the long-ago days when we were first married, I used a diaphragm and jelly for contraception (that method presented its own opportunities for fun with hubby “helping”). You may not be familiar with that method, but one of the requirements was to avoid douching for at least six hours after intercourse.

It wasn't until several years later, when I had switched to the pill, that spontaneous shower sex became really feasible. The turn-on for him that brought on the desire for shower sex was his helping with the douche, but the catch-22 was that then the contraception was gone. The pill changed all that, and the first time I douched after the switch, I asked if he wanted to put it in right away. A hurried "YES", and I bent over but soon found out that lacking lubrication made it hard to manage. A slight detour for the partially used leftover tube of contraceptive jelly (which made an acceptable substitute for KY jelly which we have kept handy ever since) got us back on track for our first shower sex episode.

Yes, it’s also true that when the shower sex is over, another douche is called for, but hubby remains ready to help with that one also. It sometimes brings on another erection, which calls for a hand job while I finish the re-douche.
