In coming Varsity and JV (Grades 5-8)2009-2010 season:
Next season looks to be a great year 2009-2010. I hope to see all of our current players and any new girls who have played or wish to play for the first time. We, as coaches, try to teach each girl to rise to the best of their personal ability, learn to play organized school sports, and most of all learn why St Jerome School & sportsmanship go hand in hand. I encourage all of our girls to seek information on the internet about "fast pitch softball." There are many great sites, camps, and training facilities in the area that can help you become a better player during the off season. Also, if any parents are interested in coaching or assisting please don't hesitate to contact me. The only way our CYO program works is with the help of our wonderful families.

Girls,
Think back again when you all showed up at PennCrisp Gym back in March. Then look where you are now...each of you can look in the mirror and say to yourself I'm a champion and my teamates were champions. St. Chris was the better team today but we accomplished much more then almost all the other teams. Only four out of 16 teams received trophies and we were one of them!! It is my hope that all of you had half as much fun as i did. Know i'm speaking for Coach Wayne, Coach Rory, and Coach Hale when i say it was a blast being around such a nice group of girls. The card you made us coaches just show what kind of girls you are!! Thank You!! I believe each of you should continue to practice. If you get a chance and if it fits with your parents schedules.... you should try to go to a softball clinic or camp to learn more and to get even better.
To the parents of the girls we coached what a pleasure it was to have a chance to work with each of your girls. You can tell each of your girls come from nice homes. Continue doing what your doing because it shows. Continue to support your girls in whatever they may do in the future. And i hope to see your girls playing softball again.
Our team party will be next Thurs. 6-18 @5pm till ?? over Winchester pool. If the girls can return their baseball shorts that would be great. We'll get some pizzas and have some fun at the pool. Hope to see all of you next Thursday at Winchester pool.

Girls,
If you can get over the field between 2:15-2:30 we can go over few important things and practice a little before the game starts. The game is over Crispin which should give us homefield advantage. Thank You to the good people over Crispin especially Mr. Madison for giving us the chance to play close to home.
Parents we need those cameras + enthusiasm one more time. There will be a short award ceremony for both teams right after the game. All this should take place in time for you to make graduations if needed.

hii girls. i would like to thank all of you for your hard work and your time. My dad and I are very proud of your imporvements. We will have a party for our wonderful team. We now know who, when, and where for our Championship Game. We will be playing St. Christopher's on Tuesday 6-9 @ 4:00pm at Boyle Plygd.(Kelvin and Napier Sts.) Go up Roosevelt Blvd to Byberry Rd. make left. Go straight to Kelvin make right, and go straight to Napier St. St.Chris was the #1 seed in the silver bracket and we are #2 so this should make for a great game!!
We will have practice over Pollock on Sat. morning 10am-12 like we did during the season. Hopefully most of you will be there since we want to go over a few things before our BIG GAME!!
Finally once again girls a great job yesterday!! We showed early we were the better team and to Presentations credit they never quit, and came back towards the end to make it a good game. But we made the plays when needed, got some clutch hitting and did what we needed to win. Hope to see most of you at practice on Saturday!!

Girls,
We will be playing our semifinal playoff game vs. Presentation BVM on Tuesday 6-2 @ Roosevelt field (Hellerman + Cottage Sts)at 4pm. Directions go down Frankford Ave to Hellerman and make a left down to Cottage St. We will be the home team since we had a better regular season record.
This is important. The last couple games some of the girls have been arriving 4pm and after. Know its not easy rushing them around afterschool but if ALL THE GIRLS could arrive at the field before 3:45 it will help a lot. If you need a ride i have room for about 3 girls. Hopefully some can car pool and get there asap.
To the parents I appreciate all your help getting the girls to the games + practices all season!! Also don't forget your cameras and enthusiasm parents!! Hope to see all of you on Tuesday!!

First please continue to check the board for updates since nothing has been finalized. But i did receive an e-mail from the director this morning asking the coach of Presentation BVM and our team if Tues. 6-2 would work for both teams. Right now IT APPEARS we will playing on Tues. @ Roosevelt Field ( Hellerman + Cottage Sts.) at 4pm vs Presentation. This game will be a semi-final game. with a win on Tuesday we would be playing for the silver championship sometime later in the week. But I emphasize nothing is final. Just wanted to give you a heads up so you can plan accordingly. I will post another message later once i find out for sure.

Spoke with the director, though he wasn't sure yet who we are playing he assured me we will not be playing on Sunday. He said it looks like it would be Monday... and Tuesday would be the championship. Girls try to get some studying done for your final trimester exams over the weekend since you will be playing softball Mon + Tues!!

First off... Wow what an effort by ALL yesterday!!!EVERYONE of you were outstanding yesterday!!! We fell behind early but not only did you come back but you ended the game early by going up 10 runs again FANTASTIC!!
The CYO director said St.Bernards vs St. Anslem still has to play and that game is Saturday morning so the earliest we would be playing will probably be Sunday. He will let me know asap and i will do the same here on the board and will place phone calls to all. Coach Wayne suggested we have practice at Pollock Sat. morning. I know some of you have pictures over Crispin tomorrow morning. How about we call practice over Pollock for 11:00am tomorrow (Sat). Our playoff game will be Thursday 4pm at our home field at Pollock vs St. Matts. If the girls can get there by 3:30 it will give us 15 minutes to practice + set our batting order up.
Girls I'm going to ask each of you to bring your "A" game with you for the next 3 games. Playoffs mean win and play another day. Stick together as a team. Keep your focus during the games and we will do it. If anyone can't make it or need a ride let me know.

Girls it was just brought to my attention that 6th grade students must be at school by 6pm on Wednesday, and some of you may be planning not to come to the "PLAYOFF" game. The playoff schedule is out. We have a game scheduled on Tues.5-26 4pm @ Christ the King Field (Chesterfield + Morrell Sts) vs St. Matts "B" team (who we just played). If we are fortunate enough to win we would have another playoff game scheduled on Thurs 5-28. And if we win Thursday we would play for the silver JV Championship on Tues. 6-2.
We have been grouped with other teams similar to our record so lets think positive and maybe we can win 3 more games. Also would like to wish the JV Maroon team good luck in their playoffs.
Great effort yesterday girls. Some of you played different positions and i know it was tough but each of you came through. If anyone needs a ride for Tuesday's playoff game or can't make it let me know.

Would like to thank all of you and your parents for your time and effort as our season winds down. I've seen so much improvement in all of you from when you showed up in Penn Crisp gym back in March to now. And we still have at least a couple games left. So continue to practice + work hard.
Looks like we have one more make-up game on Fri. 5-22 @ 3:30pm Mayfair Plygd vs St. Matts "B" team. We will be short a couple of players (Kiera + Katie K) if anyone else can't make it or need a ride let me know. The remaining 2 games on the schedule have been canceled (Thurs 5-28 + Sun 5-31)due to the excessive rainouts for some teams.
But we also will have at least one playoff game either Tues. 5-26 or Wed. 5-27 at a time+location to be determined. Please check the board for more info. I may have an informal hitting practice (not necessary to attend) Fri. morning at Crispin around 10:30am. More on that later this week.

I am very proud of all of our JV Softball players and I wish you all luck as the "Playoffs" approach. It is very rewarding to see how well each have you developed. You have set a wonderful example of what our St Jerome family is all about. Each and every JV coach or parent from our opposing teams has told me that our teams have shown "great sportsmanship" and win or lose we play great games. We have a praticed scheduled for Monday 4-13 @ 5:45pm-7:15 on the small field at Pollock.Its important all girls try to make this practice. We haven't had practice or a game in over a week... and won't have another practice scheduled again till Sat morning 4-18 @10am.
We have rescheduled our next game (originally Sun 4-19) to Mon. Apr 20 4:30pm @ Pollock vs St. Chris.
JV Gray Team Great Job so far!! Clutch hitting,fielding, and pitching has enabled us to win two games. Girls the games will get tougher... so it will be important each of you make practice, pay attention during the games, and Have Fun!!

good game yesterday girls keep on playing hard. also i want to thank MR. I have been trying to get our fields fixed for the upcoming games but could not get the equipment needed. I will continue to try and patch the field in order to drain & dry the infield but I really need help. If you have time, equipment, tools, or ideas it would really be appreciated. Girls on the JV Gray Team we have a practice schedule for 10am-12 Saturday morning. Lets try to get all girls there for practice on Saturday. Everyone will hit. Pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders will be determined at this practice so its imperative that all try to make it. The season starts this upcoming week. Its not suppose to start raining till late Sat afternoon so the weather shouldn't be a problem. Try to be there by 10am girls.
