One person's view of the pageant
Nomika deserved the crown! She was very elegant, poised and well spoken. In swimsuit she was relaxed and confident. She answered her question with confidence as well. I feel she will do well at nationals but then again that is my opinion. I thought Michelle would make top 10 and she didn't but I feel Marmel likes those newlyweds with no kids so they can do more and not be tied down.
Debbie looked really good and showed alot more confidence as well and she spoke well when she answered her question. Very unique gown. I liked how all contestants were in a different color. It made a great showing. What a close competition amoung the top two.
I did notice that alot of the ladies needed to work more on stage presence. That is my weakness as well. I feel comfortable competing but somehow my presence on stage tells a different story. Still working to resolve that. I feel the pageant could have flowed more. There were too many breaks. Heather and her husband were great for entertainment and felt both has a great voice. Donna looked great in swimsuit. To me that is the best she has looked in swimsuit. Brandi needs to try again next year. She just needs more exposure in Mrs. Paula and Elizabeth were great competitors. I had both of them in top 5 but I guess that proves you can't always pick them out because everyone has a different opinion. I liked how they called a top 5 and they had a question (different from last year). I just wished the questions were more along family, marriage or personal issues instead of all current events. Current events are important but feel that top 5 questions should be about how the winner will represent the married women or how they will promote their state. After all they are representing the married women of Louisiana. Looking forward to Nomika's journey this year to America.

You know, you can dress someone in all the best clothing and try to change them, but when it comes down to it the real person comes out and that's what happened to Debbie, you can dress her all up, but can't take the tackiness out of her presentation. Did you see what she did at the end, she grabbed Nomika's hand and pulled her to the middle of the stage, did she want some attentio or what. I personally think that she thought she had won, sorry!

Did you ever stop to think that Debbie was just doing what she was told to do. I know that in every pageant I have been in that has a top 5, the top two always stand front and center. I don't know if Nomika has entered many pageants but from my guess she has not. Maybe Debbie was just helping Nomika out. Personally I am glad she did what she did, it made for some really great pictures!

From all my years of competing, I always thought that pageants are supposed to be fun, and those 2 looked like they were having fun! As for Debbie "pulling " Nomika to center stage, Nomika never competed in a pageant, and the emcee wasn't telling them to go to center stage. It just seemed like they were doing what they were supposed to do
