In reply to: 's message, "Can someone please explain to me how my dd picture can get perfect scores at National Pageants but, never win a top in an online photo contest. This just blows my mind. I understand the whole different judges ,different day thing but, I have had different judges score the photo well in person. What can I do here?? Any advice?" on 09:44:23 04/12/06 Wed

Also, you said your dd gets perfect scores at pageants but does she always win overall photogenic? Some pageants add pluses etc to the favorite pictures, making them the overall winners.

Another thing to remember, when you are at a pageant, your dd is competing against the best that are there that day. Online, your dd's pics are competing against pics that mothers feel are the best in the country. It is very different.

There is also scanning, and what picture your dd's is placed next to can even effect scoring. Example: I get nervous when dd is next to Bailey or LY in contests, because they score those two, then go to my dd. But if they first score a "mommy retouched photo" then go to your dd's photo, you are likely to score higher. I would like to say that I dont ever think the judges compare my dd's photo to the one they just looked at but I know it does happen on occasion.

You have to just keep trying. Ask for scores from the photo contest directors and most of all ask for comments.
