If Obama is smarter than everyone else (and who knows - he might be) this insurance thing could all be just sleight of hand. From what I've heard about his plan so far, the idea is to get everyone insured. If you're not insured and can't afford it, you'll be put into the plan that insures CONgress (you can also choose to be in this plan). If this turns out to be the best plan and everyone gravitates to it, it might end up being the ONLY plan - in which case we're basically looking at single payer in disguise. That was my first thought when they were explaining it. Then again, those were merely words on the wind. We'll see what kind of plan actually makes it thru both Houses and ends up on Obama's desk. Probably another prescription drug plan if the past is any indication, but the good (bad) news is things are so bad now even corporate America realizes they're done unless some kind of serious change happens in our medical care.
