Subject: My email to Frank Blake, Home Depot CEO

I received Home Depot’s Memorial Day flyer, at least I think that’s what it is. Those are the only two words in English I could find. It’s completely in Spanish, without English translations, and not even accompanied by an English version of the same flyer.

I understand that south Florida has a large Hispanic population; however, this is still the United States of America. We speak English.

Words can’t describe how offended I am, and how furious and disgusted I am with your marketing department and corporate officers for allowing this.

Copies of this email are being forwarded to everyone in my address book, every message board and club I belong to, and it will be posted on Facebook.

I will never shop at Home Depot again, and it is my sincere hope that no one this message reaches will shop there again either.

Welcome to America. Love it or leave it.

and BRAVISIMO! What were the only 2 English words? Home Depot or Memorial Day? Either way, HOME DEPOT (and/or their marketing department) SUCKS! Good for you, Missy!

I love you, Missy, and this may be unpopular opinion... but, I don't see the fuss. I enjoy the cultural diversity in this country. It's one of the things I love about the USA. Home Depot, like any business, has to cater to their market of customers. If that particular circular wasn't marketing to me, I'd just toss it and not think twice.

Just the same, I applaud you for writing to the company regarding your opinion. Voting with your wallet is definitely an effective choice.

This country is filled with Brits, Germans, Irish, Native Americans, Africans, etc. I can't get too worked up about which language anyone's using. Frankly, I think the Native Americans are the ones who should really be worked up about it. Their entire culture could easily disappear in another century. But, I think you should definitely stand up for what you believe and let big companies like Home Depot know that this issue is important to you. It is the same as voting. Most people don't care enough to do that, either, unfortunately. So, good for you!

Yes! And this holiday is to remember those who gave the ulimate sacrifice to protect our country...The United States of America... whose native tongue is English. I should not have to learn a second language in order to fully participate (i.e. read sales fliers) in commerce in my own country.

And...Memorial Day was not conceived to be a day of shopping.
