Subject: my town has lost another legend

the leather store guy died in a fire at his shop this morning. er yesterday morning. it happened around 7 am and i found out when i turned on facebook at around 1 pm monday. shock total shock.

i can remember when he started his shop, in 1976. brought Birkenstocks to arkansas.. been there, in the same location, all these long many long years. and that alone is a HUGE achievement, considering all the changes Dickson Street has gone through over the last 35 years. Bruce saw to it that it stayed funky, and raised his civic voice when it needed to be heard, chartered member of Dickson Street Merchants Association fightin city hall when the mayor needed to listen to common sense.

Bruce will be sorely missed.

Oh, and don't worry about Bugsy. Bruce's brother will be getting here tomorrow from califonia; he wants to take Bugsy.

please don't post any *i'm so sorry jayjay posts.* don't feel sorry for me. feel sorry for our community, and all the thousands of people bruce knew and loved him back, and most of all for bugsy.

The one man's remark in the comment section that said, "Fayetteville lost a piece of its heart today" says it all. It sounds like you were all blessed to have known this man.
