Subject: Oooh, I love hearing things like this!!!

Bear with me... you need the backstory..
My parents have been friends with the Heydenreichs for at least 45 years. Robert was a Lutheran pastor and Susie was his wife. They had 4 daughters.

Their 2nd daughter, Melissa was my age. She was a super-heathly marathon runner who was in her early 30's when she dropped dead one day of a heart ailment nobody ever knew she had.

Robert was a freakin riot. A Lutheran pastor who smoked and drank and cussed mildly and loved his dogs (Irish Setters) and cracked us all up to no end. He counted the days until his retirement like he hated his job but it was truly his life and he loved his parishoners like they were his own family, having served as Pastor of Pine Hall Luthern Church in State College, PA for ...gosh, all of MY life, as far as I know so it had to be at least 40 years. He died of cancer a few years ago, about 2 months after he retired.

Their 3rd daughter, Lizzie, was profoundly retarded and never learned to speak but she could hear and she could sign. She only had the intellect of about a 4 or 6 yr old and was not expected to live much past age 8 or 10. She was a sweet, loving girl who was always smiling and loved life. Lizzie died this week at age 41.

My parents were at Lizzie's funeral today and her mother told my mother the following: A few hours before she died, Lizzie was looking up at the ceiling and following something with her eyes as though she was watching something but there was nothing there. Then she grabbed Susie's arm, pointed up and signed "Daddy." Then she pointed again and signed "Missy."

Susie, my mom and I all believe she really saw them. Do you?

A neighbor of ours died several month after my Dad died. They knew each other for years but were not close.
Just before he died, he said my Dad name's as if he was surprized to see him.

My Mom says it was to let her know that he was okay and it was totally his personality to be on the welcoming committee.

When my mom was dying she kept saying " the baby, the baby is calling me." My sisters' first baby was a stillborn and my mom was the first to see her. The doc wouldn't let my sister. My mom had to talk her son-in-law into seeing the body. He didn't want to but then he did. That day she died. It was the anniversary of Leanne's birth/death. We told her it was ok to go and my dad was waiting for her too. He died 8 months before and she just wanted to be with him.
