I think they do that the same way you do a 'linear' panorama, where you stand in one place and take pics in a kind of circle...(I did a lot of those in San Francisco to get the whole city in one pic, from the Golden Gate to the Bay Bridge.

Then they just go up, then down (that's my theory) and they have a template they can fill in the pix...From reading Dianne's son's page, it's not as easy as it sounds tho'!
