Subject: Oh..I just thought of this...any idea anyone?

So the boy got braces about a month ago. We had to pay a couple grand for the whole deal, braces + all appointments from there on out dealing with them.

Well, what happens if we move before the braces come off?

Yes, I plan to ask the office but they're not open yet.,,

[> This happened to us when we moved from Oregon to Texas -- AmyJ, 07:14:11 09/09/10 Thu [1] (adsl-99-22-122-241.dsl.rcsntx.sbcglobal.net/99.22.122.241)

The orthodontist in Oregon gave us a refund based on the amount of time the braces were on. He was very generous and I was expecting way less. The braces had been on about 1.5 years and we expected to have them off at the two year point. But when we saw the new orthodontist in Texas, he charged us almost the full fee all over again. I should have known better when I saw him wearing silk slacks.

[> I should be getting a refund from my dentist -- Dolly, 09:15:12 09/09/10 Thu [1] (pool-70-111-206-220.nwrk.east.verizon.net/70.111.206.220)

I am thinking of asking the insurance company to see if they can get it for me though. I paid a couple of grand up front for work too (not braces) and I realized after my second app't. that I hate the guy and he's a lousy dentist. My old dentist retired so I had to get a new one.

I know some of the hospitals here charge a "global fee" for pregnancy care and if you move or switch doctors partway through they figure out what you've spent and you just pay that.
