Subject: Computerized judging system

So who else thinks that computerized judging is slap ridiculous? I mean how easy would it be for a director or judge to go back and change a score. All score should be written and signed by a judges and if they are going to deduct points then they need to have comments on why. I have heard several people talking about this lately and I know my daughter and I will not be attending any pageant that utilizes computerized judging!

[> [> [> [> Well, considering there isn't one standard that everyone is going by for pageant modeling, I would say that it is like comparing apples to oranges. Dance judges are looking for specifics, there is a "right" and "wrong" way to do things. Pageant modeling is how the coach teaches, and the judges pick and choose what they like. Completely different thing. -- No name, 19:44:37 02/01/13 Fri [1]

[> [> I don't think the point was to compare dance vs pageants. Simply put... Computerized judging systems have been around for a while, and leaves room for less human error. Cheating can occur regardless of how scores are tabulated. I think some of these big national pageants need a good tabulating system. -- No name, 08:28:03 02/03/13 Sun [1]

[> If you have a password protected system where each judge has an input password, and the tabulator receives the output information, it can't be changed without the judges password. Computerized judging saves an enormous amount of time, stress and possible human error. I like it. -- Just my opinion, 14:33:33 02/04/13 Mon [1]

[> Re: Computerized judging system -- Classic Diamonds Pageants, 23:18:14 02/06/13 Wed [1]

We ALWAYS have hand written score sheets. All individual score sheets are given to the contestant/parent immediately following crowning.. we do not even see them! Our tally person does the work and hands me the results and I go over them to make sure everything looks right and if I have questions, I go to the judges score sheets. Otherwise, we put our trust in the judges we hire to do their job effectively and have good comments. I understand the need for computerized score sheets with large sized pageants (it does cut down on time and errors) but we like the personal touch of having the judges hand writing on each sheet for the contestant to keep. Each system has their own style. You have to pick and choose what you want from a system, bottom line. :)
