Hi Billy,
This is the great mystery!!Hope your session went ok but I only just checked the forum today, if you need it though heres a few pointers.
Edgelaw fishes its head off all Summer (Pike & Roach) but come the Winter the shoals of Roach just disapear........my own opinion is that they hit the depths following the thermo-cline at whatever depth it may be at.

I usually float fish one rod just above depth so it free roams in the current and waves at about two rod lengths distance. My middle rod is usually legered at roughly 20-30 ft with the bait (usually lamprey), popped up at about 2ft so any cruising Pike cant miss it. The third rod is also float fished but I usually leave it a foot over depth at about 8ft distance.

I find that spreading my rods in such a way I cover most likely areas and if I still get no interest I pack up and move on or fish at range with the baits tight to the bottom. In the Summer months on Edgelaw I very rarely move (as most regulars will testify to!!)as I know that although I wont be pulling any monsters out you can easily bag 10-15 Jacks, from a couple of pound up to ten......good sport!
In the Winter though you will have to actively seek the Pike rather than wait on them moving into your swim as they are less energetic in Winter compared to there Summer counterparts.

I reccomend the left hand bank as you look down the reservoir from the dam, the first weedy bay is a good spot and so are all the swims down by the fallen trees but to be truthful the Pike are spread out throughout the water......its that old problem, find the baitfish find the Pike!!

Tight lines mate,
Mikey
