Hey Billy, Edgelaws a funny old water in winter! The Pike seem to go way deep in search of the huge Roach shoals which also hang deep in the winter months. I usually fish all 3 rods at about 20-30 ft with the leger tight to the bottom and the bait popped up. It usually catches that bonus fish but there's no geting away from the fact that Edgelaws a strange water in winter.Everyone you ask will say the same.

I often go to Lomond (were I took my pb from!) or loch Awe which fishes well in winter also or as you said St Marys loch which is a good location too. Sometimes I leave Friday night and drive straight north towards the highlands and fish some of the small lochins up there (most without names)which all usually contain Pike, and fish all weekend driving from water to water, asking in small local pubs etc and talking to locals who will point you in the right direction. Some of these waters have never been fished and are excellent sport on lures.

Good luck Billy, i've had no luck at Edgelaw the last twice I've been up but it gets like this every year untill the Summer when the pike are hot and the fishings electric !!

Persevere though as last year I took a 13 and a half pounder at the end of February when it was baltic so the pike "are" there.......its just finding them !!

Mikey
