Last night I had the pleasure, for the second time in 3 weeks, to see ex-Danger Danger vocalist Ted Poley perform live, this time at Connections in Clifton, NJ. Let me just say, as if I haven't said it enough already, that this guy is (as the old Danger Danger song goes....) STILL KICKIN'!!

XXX and I got to the club around 10:30, after moderate difficulties locating the club in that maze that is called NJ's street system. The club was a bit of a disappointment I must say, but I had been sufficiently warned about this in advance. However, this club must have a rock-bar reputation, as I have seen LA GUNS advertising a February show there as well. In any case, when we got there we were greeted by several familiar faces. ROCK KANDY vocalist Ian was there with manager Christie, Lisa from STARS, their former drummer (whose name escapes me, but who is one hell of a nice guy....) SI STUD, and a few of the ever-fun and entertaining Kandy Girls. I was again somewhat dismayed that the opening acts were taking so long not only with their sets, but with setting up and tearing down, as Ted didn't finally take the stage until 12:45am. That being said however, once he DID take the stage, he was his usual fabulous and entertaining self. Playing to a pretty packed back room, Ted and his band played the following songs:

-Monkey Business
-Saturday Night
-Parachute
-I Love You
-Elton John
-Stuck On You
-Lovemetal
-Don't Walk Away
-I Still Think About You
-Guitar Solo
-Under the Gun
-Bang Bang
-Anyway You Want It (Journey cover...)
-Naughty Naughty (with Ian from ROCK KANDY)

Besides being an EXCELLENT frontman and showman, not to mention posessing a great voice 20 years after D2 started....) Ted is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, staying afterwards to pose for pics with fans and sign autographs. I also found out by talking to his wife at the merchandising booth, that we both graduated from the same high school only a few years apart!! Talk about a small world!!

The night was fittingly concluded with one more drink and some goodbyes to our NJ friends. (...not to mention the VERY attractive girl I became acquainted with during the show....Hey Kandy Girls, wanna hook a brother up?? :-) ) All in all, this was a great night spent with some cool people.....a trip I would DEFINITELY make again in a heartbeat. (...now if we could only get NJ to do something with that d**mn road system....) :-)
