Never did the spinning brushes catch or gag on the fabric. I will admit it does look like the bristles have stopped because, as they quickly spin, you can clearly see the individual bristles. It honestly looks like it is not moving. I only realized it WAS moving when I pushed the head so hard into the dog bed it slowed the bristles enough that I could clearly see the spinning action. Previously it went so fast, it looked like they weren't moving through the purple plastic. These bristles are blender-speed fast. Seriously, watch your hands.
