I said quot;ok quot; but the day I had this scheduled, the man showed up to quot;demonstrate quot; his Kirby product and he went on amp; on amp; on amp; on and I began to wonder if I would ever get any rugs cleaned. This happened about 4 years ago in Wisconsin. After a very long winded sales pitch and much maligning of my current Electrolux, I finally agreed to buy his sweeper. I had bought my first electrolux back in the early 70s and it was great. The 2nd one I'd bought in the late 80s and was less than thrilled with. So I agreed to purchase a new sweeper that day thinking it might last me forever. But looking back, was I going to buy a sweeper that day? No. I had no intention. But the sales guy would not let up and I admit I caved in to shut him up and get the afternoon over with. I saw in the paper later that this particular dealer had had other consumer complaints filed against him for this same practice. So I added a complaint to the list. Those complaints said too that when they tried to back out within the 3 day right to cancel, they were not able to reach anyone and got stuck with their purchases. Hmmmm. After a year or more, I finally received an apology from the dealer and a couple years of free sweeper bags. But is this the way to sell your product? I'm not thinking it is. Probably not all Kirby dealers act this way but it appears more than one is guilty. I just think that if you have a good product, you ought not to have to slime your way into homes and push your product down the throats of consumers with the come-on that you are offering a quot;
