• Worried.... -- No name, 21:49:57 05/28/09 Thu [11]
  I know there are alot of people in the medical field that come here, as well as an abundance of mothers with little girls so I was hoping someone could help me out a little bit.
  Earlier tonight, I was rocking Natalie to sleep and she told me that her Earrings hurt. So I took them out only to find that there was a HUGE green hole that was hard as a rock on one earlobe and the other had a huge hole that was filled with puss.
  The hard green one really had me worried and even though I knew it was not a life or death situation, I also knew that she needed an antibiotic and I would worry and fret all night if I didn't have it looked at. So I took her to the ER.
  The dr looked for about 30 seconds and said she was giving her an antibiotic. I asked if there was anything that needed done or if it would heal and she said there was a possiblity that there could be permanent damage.
  Does anyone have any experience with that?
  I am really feeling extremely guilty right now, how could I have let this happen? What if the holes never close up? How could I disfigure my child like that?

    • oh we have had this problem my oldest was allergic to everything! We just had to keep putting cleaner on her ear to help it heal. She latter tried again when she was ready for it... again same thing.... she got them 3rd time her own choice and cross fingers nothing bad... you didn't disfigure her lol... she will be a ok I promise.... you'll just cringe when she gets older and wants them again!!   • My niece did this, especially when she would get sick with something else her ears would do the same and she is about 2 years old. But the Dr told my sister to take the earrings out and let her ears heal, they may close up, depending upon how long they have been pierced. I was just so worried that there might be permanent damage and I can't imagine screwing my kid up aleady when she's only two years old. The ears were pierced when she was 8 weeks old, so I am really hoping they can heal fine and if the holes don't close it's no more cheap costume earrings from Claire's!!   • we had a pair from disney do that to my dds ear (turn green) she wore them for a long time, in the pool & tub etc.. but they wheren't infected.. her ears aren't really sensitive, we just cleaned them up.     • There are different levels of allegic reaction. Some people can wear anything, Some people only the premium metals like Silver and Gold and some people like aobve poster only the finest like White Gold and still some that can wear no metal in their ears. I was one of the can't wear it at all. My holes are not closed all the way but the minute any earring touches the inner part it itces and becomes red. This is an extreme allergic reaction. I would test the metals and see what she is most effected by. Her ears will be fine. I do have a small lump on one of my ears but can only feel it when I squeeze and it can't be seen at all.   My baby girl is 5 now & when the school start again after the break she will be going to KG . Since the day she was born we have never been apart ,never been to daycare, babysitter etc , im just sooo sad ,scared ,worried ,to me she is still a baby , im also worried that she wont know what to do in the classroom like how to ask to go to the restroom etc ,she is so innocent she actually thinks there is a bee named Applebee and if she miss behaves she will come and bite her in the car if she is fighting with her brother my husbands says ,ill open the window and let Applebee in & she says ok plese tell her give me one more chance.anyways the reason post is i need advice please , am i the only mom going through this . and how can i prepare my dd for school. honestly i wish she didnt have to go to school but she has to and ofcourse she need her education.just very emotional .if you ask her what she wants to be when she grows up she says a Duck because she loves to swim . i guess no matter how old she guess she will always be my baby. sorry for the typos hard to type in my condition .im 8m preg .   • I totally understand where you are coming from, when my oldest was going into KG, at first I was so excited, all throught the summer, etc. But when the time came, I was in tears. She will be going into 2nd grade after summer break :) But all in all, she did awesome and she enjoyed getting to make things, learning to read (you can't get her away from books!), and she loved her teachers. As time goes by, you will get used to her going to school but I know its hard at first. My youngest will be starting KG after the summer break as well. (NT) -- Amanda W.   • awe, that feeling is normal and understandable. My kids never went to daycare, it's been me and them from birth. I cried the very first day i took my 3yr old son. He started with pre-K in summer school and he cried for 2 weeks. after that day i had my husband take him in. lol. She MIGHT be scared or cry but that's normal for her. she will blend in in no time. my son did and now you can't get him out of school. lol. As for writing - my kids goes to private school so they had to know how to write inorder to go to kindergarten. tying lace? - my son is 5 and just learning to tie his. he'll be in grade one this fall. the teacher helps him with no problem. it all comes down to the teachers.   • None of my kids went to daycare or preschool, so Kindergarten was a big deal.....for me. LOL At our school, they let the parents stay for the 1st 15 minutes for the first week. After 5 minutes, Hannah looked at me and said, "Could yiu please leave now?" I was devastated...she was absolutely fine. I cried the first day and was sad for about a wekk, then I discovered that my kids don't argue when there is only 2 of them. For some reason, that 3rd one seems to just throw a wrench in the works. It doesn't matter which 2, they just get along better when there are only 2. It was the quietest my house had ever been. The next year my son went, and I was a little sad. I was a wreck for the last one this year...for 1 day and then realized I had enever been in my house alone...ever. I LOVE school days now! LOL Good Luck...it will be great!       • i never had this issue with any of my kids. They never did daycare either. With the twins, i always made sure to seperate them, grocery shopping, trips, etc. so they wouldnt have a fit come school time. Whtn Bossie and Anglin were born I just made sure to take them places alone, or with one or two other kids so they could get a feel for being with different amounts of people. They never had a problem and neither did I. Although, Anglin is going into Grade 1 next year and I already know half the moms in my class will be crying that day.....LOL, its sooo not them, its sooo us. LOL. Me on the other hand, I have been waiting to have all kids in school full time well, for a long time.   • OP you say not a bash but then the question in itself is kind of a bash. Far as the contests that run one every other day eventually their entries will run out because people will get tired of it. One a week is more than enough for anyone and thats pushing it IMHO and I still can't figure who they use for judges because getting people to do this that don't know the kids is hard to do!   • Running a contest ONCE a month is enough for me, lol. I dunno how some directors do it - I admire them with all the hard work they do. I couldn't waste my time with contests every week - but that's just me. I spend most of my time posting banners for my contest. I never expect to make any profits from the contest and even if there is some $$ left over, I leave it for the next contest, it comes in handy.     • If the parents are good parents but just do not get along it is beneficial for the child to see both parents often as possible. Mothers usually during the week, Fathers on weekends unless living arrangements are far apart. Fathers can get partial custody or even 1/2 custody of the child if they fight for it in court but usually not full custody unless they can prove the mother unfit. I was just asking because if you are going to get a divorce and if you are the mom they will make sure the kid's stay with you and give your husband 2 option's. Either he will just have visitation with you having the full custody, or he will give you joint with both of you making the decision's.             • No, if you are the custodial parent, you can override the other parent. Like if he wants them to go with someone I dont like and can say no, and he's suppose to listen.     • It might be the accumulation of the phflegm from her cold that is making her vomit. Angelina just had something like that after her cold and was also screaming. The doctor said she was screaming because she did not know what was happening, the phflegm was gagging her and it hurt her throat. We will say prayers for her.   • I want to thank everyone! Debbie what you described sounded just like what happend to Ava they were so shocked by the sound of her heart there were unsure of what to do except they knew they had to get fluids in her because that was really bad for her heart. finally around 12 she kept own about 2 ounces and they were happy with the pediylite and today fuzzy and it was diluted applyjuice and then went to forumal diluted shes been ok with that not even interested in food she was ok then started to scream it was horrifiing! we had no idea what it was about and then she was screaming over and vomiting scared us so Will took her to the er!
