Down's Syndrome係一種基因過多症(叫trisomy 21)...每個人都有22對染色體 + 一對性染色體。Down's Syndrome係第21對染色體度多一條--->總共有3條。主要係同媽媽懷孕年紀有關﹐但亦有其他情況(如mosaic trisomy)...

因此你一係有一係冇(因為trisomy係受精個刻已經出現一直演變到胚胎到嬰兒)。通常有Trisomy 21會有智力低下(一般少於60)﹐characteristic epicanthal fold(眼廉到鼻粱之間眼皮增生)﹐心臟會有ASD/VSD等心漏問題﹐容易有白血病(血癌)﹐體形肥胖矮小﹐腳同手指有異常﹐斷掌掌紋等情況...但基於以上一樣或多樣都唔能夠證實有Down's Syndrome...唯一可靠辦法係基因測試﹐睇你有冇多一條21號染色體。

Down's Syndrome因為染色體異常通常都係sterile(不育)﹐不過懷孕機會係有(後代亦可能患有嚴重遺傳病)-->需要有適當輔導/醫生check up﹐必要時經病人同意後要做絕育手術。
