Subject: Alcoholic ketoacidosis

Hello Dr.V ! :)
Today I discussed with my biochemistry professor about the principle of alcohloic ketoacidosis but none of us know it very well.
It is believed that alcohol is first converted to acetaldehyde and then to acetate , however no ketone body is found in this biochemical pathway.
I checked the wikipedia , it stated that as alcohol dehydrates a cell the first step of gluconeogenesis is blocked. So eventually blood glucose becomes low and a lot of ketone bodies are released into blood by liver.
Yet , I'm not convinced by the dehydration hypothesis. It doesn't sound rational.
Plz give me a advice , thx!
