If the condition persists, you should go back to the doctor who prescribed you medication and tell him/her straightaway that your condition did not improve. He/she will make the judgment whether you should be referred.

Medical specialists are not designated to take up problems GP cannot resolve, or else the waiting list for a specialist would be tens of years for a simple opinion/operation. I found this a major misconception coming from the general public.

Go see the doctor who treated you and have faith in him/her! If in doubt, you can always switch or even sue the doctor who treated you :-)
