Subject: where will your own fate take you? [medieval human]

I L A R I O N | the first era

Ilarion is a kingdom with few enemies, and little reason to seek war.

It has thrived upon its own resources for hundreds of years without devestating battle, although there have been internal skirmishes recounted in the annals of history, but they are few, and fearfully so. Some say this lack of war has made the Ilarionites too peaceful for their own good, while others believe that the re-emergence of knighthood, which has risen from the obscure laws that forbade it decades ago, is encouraging for those who are wont for bloodshed, and there are many that are willing.

There are also those who advocate for peace, and how Ilarion has always been in recent memory -- peaceful, without war, without needless death and destruction. They are loyal to the Crown, but even these stalwart loyalties may fail.

King Aelfred Tarengale is dying. The Crown Prince of the realm, Cearnan, is unwilling to take up his duty as the next monarch. This creates immense tensions between the Prince and the King. For one, some lords and ladies of the court may seem a little too eager for Aelfred to succomb to his illness.

-------------

The tranquility that Ilarion has striven for may at last be broken. The Crown Prince, unwilling to take his father's throne as the next king, may surely undo this peaceful era of Ilarion. And there are other reasons that are too horrible to mention, for even though the reigning family of Tarengale is well loved by their people, they have some secrets too grim to come to full light.

Where will your own fate take you? Will you side with the Monarchy, or will you be the one to break Ilarion into countless pieces?
