Subject: Benden Weyr - Fifth Pass

I bet if your reading this you’ve read the books by Anne McCaffery known as the Dragonriders of Pern and ya know what? I bet you loved them too! Loved them so much that you’ve spent countless hours trying to find a way to enter that world she created so magnificently. To impress a dragon, fall in love and live happily ever after…

Well I hate to break it to ya, but this isn’t an advertisement for ‘happily ever after’. Sure we have the dragons and even the love… if that’s what your calling lust now-a-days, but happily ever after? Please… that’s so overrated.

Naw, we’d rather have that rough language spoken by harsh men, that temper that comes on a short fuse, that will to fight just for the hell of it. Better yet, we’d rather have that high tension caused by the threat of not only thread… but revolution and revolt as well. And what a better time to find it than the Fifth Pass!

Not only has the ‘class’ of your birth put a heavy weight upon what your able to do in life, but the gender is also an insane hinderance. Women are frowned upon and rising above those frowns is impossible… unless you marry a Lord or impress gold – both nearly impossible. The men too have their hard times if they can not make it in a craft or impress brown or bronze. Blue and green riders, though higher than the drudges in the lower caverns are still looked down upon and kicked by those of higher rank…

As you can imagine though, they aren’t too happy with that. Take a look at the difference in sheer numbers… Can you really believe the high ranked will stay there much longer if they don’t change their ways? Well believe what you want, we have an offer to make you all the same…

Come join our world of high tension and higher tempers. Bring your young weyrbrat, your hopeful candidate, your rider or crafter. No matter what view they side with they are welcomed here for our two queens have risen closely together and those to stand for impression are coming up short numbered… Come join the struggle to be recognized at Benden Weyr… and why not, come help keep those of low class down where they belong as well. After all, its no fun if there isn’t a challenge right?
