To others, to those who stayed through it all it would never be the same. Friends were lost, pack members killed, families torn apart. With new leaders and old alliances, Courage of the Wolves would rise again. The plains will wait for your arrival. Courage of the Wolves or Same window |

broken red memories vanish into the sky This is a fallen land, this ancient valley - cursed from the aftermaths of a brutal winter, and haunted by spirits old as the land itself. Even as the land enters spring, a season that should bring hope, still uncertainy and unrest sits in the heart of every wolf. The leadership of the Valley's alpha, Kajar, is wavering after a long spell of depression. The wolfess Sylver, the long-revered protector of the Valley, grows tired and weak with age. And no one - not even the mightiest or wisest of the Valley’s wolves - has yet discovered a way to vanquish the spirit Ojike, who haunts the Valley and grows more powerful each day. the wind carries off my voice kobore ochita koemo rimawa kajega sarau THE VALLEY link opens in a new window |

I know it's not true; I know what I spoke came from the mouth of the gods, not mine. But it has hard to cling to such desperate belief when the gods have not yet come - have they abandoned me? I ask sometimes. The only answer is the wind howling through the pines. -SOOTHSAYER TARI, ALPHA OF RISING FALLS The wolfess always had a scent of madness about her, though I tolerated her in the pack well enough for a long while, too long, in fact. Then one day she shouts to the pack madness about gods coming, bringing prosperity and peace. Fairy tales. She left; I didn't bother stopping her. Maniacs like that wouldn’t last two days on their own anyway. -VESPERTILIO, ALPHA OF VOLUTUM AEOLIAN enter a world on the brink of a shattering W A N D E R I N G F L A M E S |

Mythological creatures are just that, right? Myths. Fables. Folklore. Stories told to pass the time and maybe wormed into religion. They don't exist. There's no such thing as magic. Not entirely wrong...nor right. Chimaerical beasts and fantastic powers do exist, just not in this reality. Well, that's a bit false, too. They do exist on this Earth, but they originated elsewhere. A parallel universe or some other timeline; an alternate reality. How'd they get here? - why are they here? You're better off asking the latter of the thing in question. As for transportation, it can be explained with a dimensional shift, but that's not so easy to explain. To put it simply, they were there and then, but suddenly, they were here and now. Whatever method of travel and whether it was voluntary depends on the entity. Not all of these beings come from another reality, but a predecessor of theirs did, or one of them learned something from someone not of this world. Sounds crazy, doesn't it? Any normal human would probably give you a funny look if you said you could control the weather, and then scream for the cops when you made lightning strike two centimetres away from their little toe. That's why the ones who can't keep a secret are institutionalised. Not necessarily because they're insane or a danger to society, but because it's a safety precaution. Humans fear the unknown, and fear breeds hate. It's much safer to be dubbed "insane" and put in a nice padded room; people won't believe you if you say you're a dragon, so they won't do much harm to you. As for those who keep it under wraps, they mingle among humans, keeping the outward appearance of just another person, even though they're not quite like the others. In the Hospital, though, if they've heard about it through the grapevine, they could think themselves sure to find a fellow "freak." It's more a sanctuary than a prison, even if there's a lack of freedom. Freedom or death? If you can't keep quiet about what you really are, not everybody will accept you, because you're not the same as them. Prejudice is deadly. Still, it's your decision to make. Despite the fact of oddballs existing in this City and being patients of the Hospital, there are normal people, too. Most of them are unaware of the "weirdoes" and live normal lives. Except it wouldn't be quite a normal life if they happened to stumble across one of these not-quite-humans. The results could be disastrous or a change for the better in their life, but either way, things sure as hell ain't gonna be the same again. So, what are you? A therianthrope - a creature with the ability to transform into a human? Somebody with magical powers? Or just another Joe Blow working nine to five in a cubicle? It doesn't matter what you are, there's a little niche for you somewhere in this place. Remember this, if nothing more: nothing is impossible; just very, very improbable. W&WII is an open-ended but complex fantasy RPG. There are few catches to what your character can be, and creativity is highly encouraged. There's quite a bit of information to wade through, so try to be a reading mood before you plan on visiting the site. Even though there is a lot to look at, I can promise some degree of originality and flexibility. I've yet to see an RPG like this on the web. I can only hope this place really does go somewhere, as I've worked hard on it to make interesting and fun and not just another hit-and-run fantasy site. ◊ a note from the creator and owner, Kuro. |
