Events have escalated at the recent hatching. The daughter of Shiela, one time dragonrider and now Headwoman of Benden Hold, has Impressed a blue. Tanta and her blue Oreath have no notion of what may befall them because of this. A mysterious scrap of paper appeared in the hall of the Weyr, outside of Vashti's Weyr. The Weyrleaders decided it must be brought to the Lord Holders' attention at the upcoming Gather. Raca, the second son of the Lord Holder of Benden, has impressed a blue, much to the dismay of his brother. The Lord Holder has yet to find out. It has been decided that the Gather will be held at Benden Hold, and preparations are coming down to the littlest details. The Weyrlingmaster of Benden has requested that the Gather be postponed for two weeks- just long enough for the Weyr to find transportation for the growing hatchlings.

Version 1- The promise of AVIAS has failed- but no one knows it yet. The leaders of Pern believe that Thread is gone for good. The Weyrs have continued training, but only for demonstrations of skill. Thread is gone. A global agreement has come up- we must a Pern-wide Gathering to celebrate the one thousandth Turn since the dreaded Thread has gone. In just a few turns, the Gathering will take place at Benden Hold. Benden Weyr is concocting a special demonstration in honor of the event being held at the Hold. The Crafthalls are preparing their best wares. All of Pern is arranging transportation. Yet in the midst of this, a sudden death strikes Benden Hold's leadership. The Lady Holder has been murdered... and no one knows why.

Ancient Discoveries is a traditional semi-canon Pern game owned by Aranna. It is rated PG- 13. For version one, we've put the emphasis on the Hold. Why? Because Holds never see much action in Pern games. The Crafthalls will also be important later in the plot. Most Pern games focus on dragonriders... but what about Holders, Crafters, and the Holdless? Ancient Discoveries makes all aspects of the World of Pern necessary.
