Subject: Red Carpet Inn

The heck with the high end Brooklyn hotel boom. We've got a better, cheaper options. A tipster pointed us in the direction of what has to be one of the funniest rants about a hotel we've ever seen anywhere. (Well, definitely one of them.) It concerns the Red Carpet Inn, which is sort of on the Bushwick/Ridgewood border. The good news is that it's only $116 a night (and we haven't checked on the hourly rates, but would be stunned if there wasn't one). The bad news is, well, you'll see:

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Though I wouldn't call it a hotel because it was more like a wham bam thank you ma'am type MOTEL. First of all when I called in to see if I could check-in earlier than the check-in time, the person at the front desk told me that the hotel was over booked and that he would have to send me to the location in Queens.

The drama continues:

Then when I called back to tell him to cancel my reservations as I had found another hotel to stay at, he then told me that I would be charged for one night and that he now had an available room for me. I arrived early at the hotel, but was told that I would have to pay an additional $65 so I declined. Then I was told to come back AFTER 2pm. The hotel seemed fine on the outside. The staff could not speak English fluently but that didn't bother me much. When I got into my room I started to inspect it and I couldn't believe the state of the room. I requested a non-smoking room. The sign on the room door had a non-smoking sign but when I opened the door it reeked of smoke, there was an ashtray on the end table, cigarette burns covered the blanket, and when I pulled the blanket back the sheets had "LOVE STAINS" on them, and the toiled was broken. I did not sleep a wink due to the running toilet. I kept tossing and turning thinking someone was in my room using the toilet. The drapes did not close properly. I was constantly afraid that people on the outside would look in.The mattress was lumpy and the pillows were not adequate. The room looked as though it was deliberately destroyed. I called the front desk to get clean sheets and blanket I was told that housekeeping was on break but they did show up in 5 minutes and they were not pleased by my requests for clean linen. I also saw a baby roach the morning of my exit. I ordered Pizza Hut to deliver but they would not enter the building. The signal on my cellphone would go down when the train passed causing me to miss a lot of calls. I would never stay at this hotel again. I would rather pay double the price I paid to be more comfortable. I wasn't able to get pictures of the stained sheets and cigarette burns covered blanket because they came to change it right away but I have included pictures of the other damages in the room.
