I've been living with her for a couple of weeks.. but I still have a room at Remy's. It's not a permanent thing, yet. (He smiled as he thought of Haylie, despite the fact that Braden was upset.. he sort of understood that his friend just needed to think about other things.. and heaven knew he loved to talk about Haylie.) I fell for her pretty quick.. just didn't realize that I had until she was dying from a gunshot wound. (He shook his head as he recalled that day.. he had howled like a wounded bear for nearly an hour, no one had been able to console him until little Shay had come along and dragged him off to another room so Gia would work in peace.) I'd never seen or felt anything like that.. I mean, I've nearly died a few times in my life and I've seen the death of people I've work around.. but seeing that nearly dropped me right there. I think it's just that I couldn't imagine my life without her now that she had been in it. (He smiled a little as he recalled how they had been after that, unable to be apart and nearly insatiable.. until he'd been a dipshit and left her at the altar.) It's amazing how free your mind becomes once you have someone like that to lean on.. it's like having a whole other part of yourself that you couldn't access before. (He shrugged, but then continued on.. talking to Braden for nearly an hour and a half about his life with Haylie.. how she had made him a better person, but not until after he'd done everything imaginable to screw it up. He was just trying to tell braden that women were stronger than men gave them credit for.. Haylie had taken a lot from him and still she opened her arms to him at night.. there was nothing better in the world than waking up and watching the love of your life sleep, feeling your baby kick between your body and hers, and knowing that life had hope no matter what.)
