Yeah, but be careful, the toads prefer the shallower water and the newts prefer deeper water, like 6 inches. Provide a space where the toads can sit in shallow water(1-2 inches). For one toad a 5 gallon is plenty big, but if you plan on adding newts or more toads to the tank, a bigger tank will be needed. Hope this helps.
