LIFE IN GENERAL
EPISODE 3.2: SWEET DREAMS
OPENING SCENE: ASHE IS SITTING INDIAN STYLE IN HIS ROOM. HIS EYES ARE CLOSED AND HE IS CONCENTRATING. THE ONLY LIGHT IS FROM SEVERAL CANDLES THAT ARE LIT AROUND HIM. HE TAKES A DEEP BREATH AND THERE IS A KNOCK AT THE DOOR. HE DOES NOT OPEN HIS EYES

RICHARD
But Ashe....
ASHE MOANED AND GOT UP TO OPEN THE DOOR. BEFORE HE COULD OPEN THE DOOR, IT FLEW OPEN AND SAM CAME CHARGING IN. SHE STOPPED AND THREW A DAGGER AT HIM. THE DAGGER HIT ASHE IN THE SHOULDER. ALEC WAS SEEN IN THE DOORWAY HOLDING RICHARD BY THE COLLAR OF HIS SHIRT.

Ouch! Sam, we’ve been through this
ASHE LOOKED AT ALEC
ASHE

ALEC

ASHE NODDED TO ALEC AND GLARED AT SAM
ASHE
What could I possibly have done this time? I’ve been in my room all evening

ASHE GLARED AT SAM AND SHOVED HER OUT OF HIS ROOM. HE SLAMMED THE DOOR SHUT AND RIPPED THE DOOR KNOB OFF. HE SMILED TO HIMSELF AND TOSSED THE DOORKNOB IN THE AIR.
SAM
Oh bravo, genius. How do you plan on leaving the room, if you can’t open the door, moron
ASHE
I don’t plan on leaving
SAM
Oh, and I suppose halflings don’t have to use the bathroom....EVER
ASHE’S EYES WIDENED AND THEN HE SMACKED HIS HEAD WITH THE PALM OF HIS HAND.
OPENING CREDITS ROLL
SCENE ONE: ASHE IS SITTING INDIAN STYLE ON THE FLOOR OF HIS BEDROOM. THERE IS A CIRCLE OF CANDLES AROUND HIM. HE CLOSES HIS EYES AND CONCENTRATES. WE HEAR ASHE’S THOUGHTS AS THE CAMERA SLOWLY ZOOMS IN ON ASHE’S FACE.
ASHE
Ellie, can you hear me? Ellie?
THERE IS A LONG PAUSE.
ASHE
Ellie, I know you can here me. Say something.
ANOTHER LONG PAUSE
ASHE
Ellie?...
A FAINT VOICE IS HEARD
ELLIE
...Yes...
ASHE
Ellie? Is that you?
THE SCREEN FLIPS TO ELLIE. ELLIE IS ASLEEP IN A LARGE BED WITH NAVY BLUE, SATIN SHEETS. SHE IS LAYING ON HER SIDE. THE COVERS ARE PULLED UP TO SLIGHTLY ABOVE HER WAIST. SHE HAS A SILK, BLACK NIGHTGOWN ON THAT MATCHES HER BLACK HAIR. SHE WHISPERS AS SHE SLEEPS.
ELLIE
Yes. I’m here, Ashe
ASHE’S VOICE IS HEARD, BUT HE IS NOT SEEN.
ASHE
Where is Elijah?
ELLIE
He’s not here. He’s taking power of this planet
ASHE
Which planet? Where are you?
ELLIE
I don’t know, I’m in bed
SHOT FLIPS BACK TO ASHE.
ASHE
Ellie, you have to stop this. What happened to you?
SHOT CONTINUES TO FLIP BACK AND FOURTH AS EACH PERSON SPEAKS
ELLIE

CAMPBELL PASSED THE SACK AROUND THE ROOM. ASHE PULLED OUT A MAGNIFYING GLASS AND WAITED HIS TURN TO LOOK AT THE SACK

ELLIE ROLLED HER EYES AND LAUGHED.

ASHE TOOK THE SACK AND BEGAN TO EXAMINE IT. THE SUNLIGHT FROM THE WINDOW BEGAN TO BURN A SMALL HOLE INTO THE SACK.

Hey, wait your turn!
CAMPBELL
Listen, you-
THE SACK CAUGHT FIRE. CAMPBELL SAW THIS AND YELLED FOR EVERYONE TO GET DOWN. THE ENTIRE CLASS, EXCEPT FOR SAM, GOT OFF THEIR SEATS AND HID UNDER THEIR DESKS. ASHE DOVE BY ELLIE AND THEY TIPPED THEIR DESK AND USED IT AS A WALL. ASHE INSTINCTIVELY COVERED ELLIE TO PROTECT HER.

What’s going on? What is everyone doing?
THE SACK EXPLODED. EVERYONE SLOWLY EMERGES AS THE SMOKE CLEARS. SAM LOOKS AT ELLIE AND ASHE

Ashe accidentally set fire to the homemade bomb. And....well, it works
ELLIE WAS STARTING AT SAM STRANGELY, ALONG WITH ASHE

ASHE ELBOWED ELLIE TO GET HER TO STOP. ELLIE GLANCED AT ASHE.

...nothing. Still in shock that that bomb still worked, I guess.
SAM TURNED TO FACE CAMPBELL AND ELLIE LOOKED AT ASHE

CAMPBELL LOOKED AT SAM AND JUMPED BACK AGAINST THE WALL

SAM GOT UP AND RAN TO CAMPBELL’S DESK, OPENING THE FIRST DRAWER

SAM GLARED AT CAMPBELL AND PULLED OUT A HAND HELD MIRROR. SHE LOOKED AT HERSELF IN IT AND SAW SHE HAD NO EYEBROWS. SCENE CUTS TO OUTSIDE THE BUILDING AS WE HEAR SAM SCREAM. SHOT CUTS BACK TO SAM. SHE GLARES AT ASHE AND SMASHES THE MIRROR ON THE DESK. SHE STILL HELD THE HANDLE OF THE MIRROR IN HER HAND AND POINTED THE JAGGED EDGE AT ASHE.
SAM
Get up here Trent! We’ve got a major score to settle!
SCREEN FADES TO WHITE AND FADES BACK TO ELLIE. HER HAIR HAS FADED TO LIGHT BROWN.
ELLIE
I thought you said good memories
ASHE

ELLIE

ASHE LAUGHED
ASHE

SHOT CUTS TO ASHE WHO OPENS HIS EYES AND TAKES A SIGH OF RELIEF. SCENE FLIPS BACK TO ELLIE. SHE STIRS AWAKE TO SEE ELIJAH STANDING IN THE DOORWAY TO THEIR BEDROOM. ELIJAH STARES AT HER LIGHT BROWN HAIR CURIOUSLY.

I’m sorry, my love, I didn’t mean to wake you.
ELLIE TOOK A DEEP BREATH AND SMILED AT HIM
ELLIE
No damage done
ELIJAH WALKED TO HER SIDE AND BENT DOWN TO KISS HER. AS THEY KISSED, ELLIE’S HAIR RETURNED TO BLACK. ELIJAH SMILED AT HER AND STOOD UP.

Where are you going? I hope you’re not planning on creating a disturbance without me
ELIJAH SMILED AT HER
ELIJAH
Listen to you. Aren’t you the one who created a missile powerful enough to destroy a planet?
ELLIE SMILED AND SPOKE INNOCENTLY

SCENE TWO: ASHE PUNCHES AND KICKS HIS DOOR SEVERAL TIMES, DENTING IT. EVENTUALLY HE IS ABLE TO GRAB AHOLD OF THE FOLDED METAL AND PRY HIS DOOR OPEN. HE IS STARTLED TO SEE ELIJAH STANDING ON THE OTHER SIDE.

ELIJAH WALKS PAST ASHE, INTO ASHE’S ROOM.

Ellie and I have been enjoying our time together as we begin domination the universe, one planet at a time. Leaving your little scooby gang never seemed to bother her. However, someone has been entering her mind as she sleeps and trying to convince her that what she is doing is wrong. You wouldn’t have any idea who that is, would you?

Really, that’s interesting, considering that the only people who can make a connection such as that must either be practicing wiccans or a vampire.

ASHE JUMPED TO HIS FEET AND GRABBED HIS SWORD THAT WAS LEANING AGAINST THE WALL. IT IMMEDIATELY BURST INTO FLAMES. ELIJAH GAVE A HALF SMILE AND RAISED HIS HAND IN THE AIR. A LONG, CURVED SWORD APPEARED IN HIS HAND. THEY BEGAN TO FIGHT, ASHE SHOWED ANGER AND CONCENTRATION. ELIJAH’S EXPRESSION WAS ONE OF CONFIDENCE AND ENJOYMENT. RICHARD WAS WALKING BY AND SAW ELIJAH AND ASHE BATTLING IN ASHE’S ROOM.

Hey Elijah, hi Ashe. Did you know there is a huge rocket heading for a blue planet?
ASHE
What?!
ELIJAH
Yes, that missile was created by Ellie. We decided to test it out on a small planet. The impact should disintegrate the planet
RICHARD
Uh...not exactly
ELIJAH

RICHARD
I got a call from some people on that planet....they seemed really upset, so I changed the course of the missile.
ELIJAH

ASHE
Where’s it headed now, Richard?
RICHARD
A really, REALLY big rock
ELIJAH
A meteor! You’re sending my missile to a worthless meteor?!
ASHE
I thought it was Ellie’s missile
ELIJAH GLARED AT ASHE AND FIRED AN ENERGY BLAST AT HIM. ASHE WAS PROPELLED TO THE FLOOR, DENTING IT. ELIJAH FLIPPED HIS SWORD AROUND AND DROVE IT INTO ASHE’S HEART, PINNING HIM TO THE FLOOR. ASHE LET OUT A SHORT CRY OF PAIN.

Richard, get out of here!
ELIJAH
Relax, Ashe. Now is not the time to deal with Richard. That day will come, after I inform Ellie of his actions.
ELIJAH LOOKED DOWN AT ASHE
ELIJAH
The day will come when I will find a way to kill you. When that day comes, it will be your last.
ELIJAH DISAPPEARED IN A CLOUD OF SMOKE. ASHE LOOKED AT THE SWORD IN HIS CHEST. HE GRIPPED THE BLADE WITH BOTH HANDS, TOOK SEVERAL DEEP BREATHS AS HE BUILT UP THE NERVE TO PULL IT OUT. HE PUT PRESSURE ON THE BLADE AND BEGAN TO PULL THE SWORD OUT OF HIS CHEST. BLOOD RAN FROM HIS HANDS AS THE BLADE SLICED INTO HIS FINGERS AND PALMS. THE BLADE SLIDE OUT AND HE THREW IT ON THE FLOOR, TAKING DEEP BREATHS. RICHARD WALKED OVER TO ASHE. ASHE LOOKED UP AT HIM.

Ashe, why doesn’t Ellie visit us anymore?
ASHE
I don’t know. She’s changed. Ellie’s -
ASHE NOTICES THAT RICHARD ISN’T PAYING ATTENTION TO HIM ANYMORE. A FLY WAS BUZZING AROUND RICHARD’S HEAD. ASHE SIGHED AND ROLLED HIS EYES

RICHARD
Heh, weapons are cool...
HE FOLLOWED THE FLY WITH HIS EYES AND TRIED TO CATCH IT. IT LANDED ON ASHE’S FOREHEAD AND RICHARD SMACKED HIM, MISSING THE FLY.
ASHE
OUCH! That’s it, I’m leaving!
SCENE THREE: ASHE TIP TOES INTO A DARK ROOM. HE IS WEARING A BLACK UNDER SHIRT AND BLACK BOXER SHORTS. HE PLACES A SMALL SACK ON THE FLOOR AND TAKES A LARGER SACK FROM UNDER HIS ARM. HE POURS A BLACK POWDER ON THE GROUND AND SLOWLY WALKS BACKWARD OUT THE DOOR, LEAVING A TRAIL OF BLACK POWDER. HE CLOSED THE DOOR SO THAT IT WAS OPEN SLIGHTLY WHERE THE BLACK POWDER TRAIL CREPT THROUGH. ASHE KNELT DOWN AND TOOK A LIGHTER OUT OF HIS BACK POCKET. HE FLIPPED THE LID OPEN AND SNAPPED ON THE DIAL TO IGNITE THE FLAME. HE SMILED AS HE LIT THE BLACK POWDER ON FIRE. THE POWDER SPARKED AND A SMALL FLAME FOLLOWED THE POWDER INTO THE ROOM. ASHE WAITED A MOMENT AND THEN THE ROOM LIT UP AS THE SOUND OF A SMALL EXPLOSION ECHOED. A LIGHT FLICKED ON IN THE ROOM AND A BLOOD CURLING SCREAM IS HEARD. RICHARD WALKED UP BEHIND ASHE

Hey, Ashe. What was that noise?
ASHE QUICKLY SHOVED THE LIGHTER AND THE BAG OF HALF EMPTY BLACK POWDER INTO RICHARD’S HANDS. THE DOOR FLEW OPEN AND SAM STOOD IN FRONT OF THEM, HER EYEBROWS WERE BURNED OFF. ANOTHER SCREAM IS HEARD FROM INSIDE THE ROOM.

AHHH!! My hair!!!
ALEC EMERGES FROM THE ROOM. THE TOP OF HIS HAIR HAD BEEN SINGED. ASHE COULD BARELY CONTAIN HIS LAUGHTER AS HE LOOKED AT SAM AND POINTED AT RICHARD. SAM LOOKED AT RICHARD WHO WAS PLAYING WITH THE LIGHTER AND HOVERING IT OVER THE BAG OF POWDER.

SHE JUMPED WHEN SHE SAW SAM AND ALEC

JILL TOOK THE LIGHTER OUT OF RICHARD’S HAND.
