We're talking abour Gelis' betrayal, aren't we? I've only read it once, but I got the impression that this was her mission with Nicholas from the beginning. She wanted to get revenge on him from the beginning. I don't think she intended to actually _feel_ anything for him, which was why she cried the night he told her he loved her before she left for Scotland (and her intentional tryst with Simon). Ah well, Jessica, keep reading.
