No maam. I wasn't referring to you. I was remembering an account from a friend a time ago about a board member who was responsible for our hometown and knew nothing east of Robinson Ave. or south of Broadway. It seems to me that mentality still prevails way too much in our committees, boards and government in general. And hiring outside of Newburgh does make it appear that we natives are too stupid to run our own affairs. Though I have to admit there are a few who support that. But we have some very wonderful and competent people here who could be so beneficial and who haven't sold out to the invasion.

I read that you remember the lunch counter at Woolworth's. I remember that very well. And seeing Yellow Submarine and Romeo and Juliette at the Broadway and Ritz movie houses, the Bull Market and Empire Lanes and the Avalon before it became Big Scott's. The Brookside and Robert Hall too. Mike Vi's (I never spelled it so I hope that's right.)

We're from the days when Newburgh offered so much, including a very good education and something to do with it right here at home. There really is no excuse why it can't do that again. Or that's what I think anyways.

See you at the old Rec pool?
