Subject: Gimme a break! Government of the People

Our current govt. has interest only in itself & individual members. Not news. Proven fact. But you watch-n-see how many get re-elected! Then watch-n-see how many get re-appointed. They can't budget within realistic means. (What exactly is in their budget anyway?) They unilatterally pass tax increases imposed on the few TAXPAYERS we have in Newburgh instead of getting rid of the chaff. They're redoing the City Charter knowing it won't affect them in the long run. They've always figured the state will bail them out from a bind. But the main point is that if they don't keep their positions in coming elections they walk away unscathed. If they do keep their current positions it proves that Newburghers over whelmingly APPROVE of this sort of thing! Face a fact here. Somebody's making enough money to be able to leave town as it sinks into oblivion. But it certainly isn't the ones who are being held responsible for coughing up the cash (a.k.a. the TAXPAYER). How many past govt. came from Newburgh? How many have stayed after they were elected/appointed and were done with their term? It really is time to stop the routine or stop bitching about our state of affairs. If nothing gets changed it's because the masses agree with the status quo. Personally if the next election is like the past I am so out of here! I'm not carrying the weight of idiots any more. I'll pay taxes in a city where I'm actually served by my govt. and supported by my neighbors. That certainly ain't happening here in Newburgh.
