Agreed. 1st mistake, comparing Nbg to Pok. Oranges to Dutchesses. In the statistics I wonder which city responds to more arsons. But I would imagine NFD has more to do in any given day than Sister City. I believe we fail to think of what our firefighters actually confront when they respond to a call. Forgive the insinuation but they can't just wait long enough for the situation to blow over or drive by waiting for backup. They can't just avoid the situation. But then NPD in all fairness deals with a city where violent crime makes old Chicago look like Disney's Epcot. Let's do a more realistic comparison like Nbg to the South Bronx of the 1960's. Then let's figure the worth of our fire dept.

24 hours on - 72 hours off sounds pretty OK on the surface but what happens during that 24 hours on is important to consider especially during summer. What must it be like at the 22nd hour? I wonder what our nonresident council members would think about if their homes were threatened by fire and they had to put their hopes into a firefighter serving his 22nd straight hour. I'm just sayin'.

No matter how I try I can't find fairness in the information provided. I ask, why ride the backs of NFD when there's so much chaff in other areas? Like desk jobs and empty chairs on our payrolls. I'm just sayin'.
