Unlike blogs or other forms on line where comments can be posted this board doesn't ask for any personal information or registration. Unlike other boards this one is moderated to keep garbage and silly ads out but lets people put their opinions and observations up and pretty much lets just about anything stay. It doesn't attack anybody and it doesn't seem to try to limit participation to a certain group of people. Over the years I've seen some things deleted when the messages get rude or try to bad mouth a particular person or somebody who isn't in the public eye. I can understand that. But it's open and free. It's better than news papers or those blogs that make you register to use. It's even better than council or committee meetings because we don't have to leave home or stand up at a microphone or give an email address or anything.

But when I tell people about it and write down the address for people who have a lot to say about what happens in Newburgh they seem to just go quiet and don't bring their ideas here. I can't remember how many pieces of paper I've given out so far or how many people I've told about this great board. But the more I think about it I'm beginning to believe that most people really don't care, just want to complain but don't want to do anything even just to contribute an idea or thought.

The few who are regulars here are positive and I think educated. But what about everybody? This isn't a private club. So where is Newburgh? People will put their personal info on Facebook or something like that. But when they have a chance to make a difference and can say what's on their mind or in their heart they dummy up. And they leave the responsibilities to just a handfull of other people. It's disappointing to think my fellow Newburghers can be so lazy and really abusive. Or are they just intimidated?

I just had to throw this out here because I wonder. I hope it encourages response and some more participation.
