補充一點,
我是嶺南人, 不是讀哲學, 但是就讀於文學院, 都略知一二嶺南哲學的情況.

收生名額：32個學額 JUPAS 收27位,non-jupas收5位 2個D2個E, 已經是1999年的figures. 2006年, 所有課程至少要有一個C. 由於是人文學科, 所以語文成績一定要比較好. 而且一定要放band A加上有良好interview 表現.

特色: 生死哲學, 美學及有關科學哲學(Bioethics, metaphysic)都比較出色. 由於教職員60%為外國人, 所以英文要求比較高. chair professor 叫OLSEN, Stein Haugom 是研究美學, 文字, 文學哲學(philosophy of language) 的權威, 由於是受Oxford 及Norway的訓練, 他比較傳統. 至於department head是LIVINGSTON, Paisley Nathan就是蔡老闆口中的美學學者, 如果有閱讀SCMP, 就可以找到他的專欄. 你要有心理預備, 用英文寫中文的內容. (例:外籍教授是用英文教中國先秦哲學). 兩年前, 加開Visual Art programme. 如果對美學有興趣都可以值得考慮.

優點: 嶺南祟尚小班教學, 師生比例處於1:15, 未來是1:12; 我們是教授教書不是tutor (即是博士學生教書), 所以師資有保證. 由於嶺南行美國博雅教育Liberal Arts制度, 所以對學生要求比較不同, 我們總學分中有1/3是屬於自由選擇的學分, 即是你不可以獨專一科.要副修哲學以外的科目.

缺點: 由於學系被人誤以為水泡, 所以每年都屬於競爭最大的科目.
學系由於比較細, 所以相比其他院校, 研究規模比較小, 亦即是研究學位比較小, 如果要讀Master 或者Phd. 就比較難.

不過, 同學仔都是要認真想清楚是不是要讀哲學, 因為都是一門Workload 和content不輕的科目.
