Hey Kevin,

What a surprise to see on the board. I thought I’ll share my two cents as well…. Hopefully it will help make things a little clearer.

When I decided to join 4Life in May 2004, and went on to GID in September 2006, I dare say that more than 90% of my volume was in Malaysia. But we had issues about where to put our pictures and to which nation we belong, etc. I had moved to Malaysia since July 2004, struggled very, very hard the first 6 months and hardly ever spend time in Singapore, and then they were going to put my picture at the Singapore office only. It seems I wasn’t qualified to be recognized in Malaysia. Now, that is grossly unfair to me and my team. So we had these things to negotiate with the company, and then of course, since I was a Gold from out of Singapore, Malaysia didn’t have a Gold yet. And some people in Malaysia were ALREADY claiming themselves as Gold on their personal 4Life websites!

Now, I’m a hard worker, as many leaders here are, I’m sure, but I don’t practice claiming a pin level that I am not. And I also believe that credit must be given where credit is due. Akram, my brother is a Malaysian national and he finally made Gold, and that is quite an accomplishment. He is the first Malaysian to do it, and we are all very proud of it! It shows that our system works. And that we’re not just hot air (as some people put it, when I got my rank). Trust me, we hear all kinds of talk in a market as tight as this

You talk about the successes of others… Yes, that is the core of what we are building. The success of others. I spend a lot of money on incentives, training and teambuilding programs to reward my leaders who reach certain pin ranks and to help everyone else on my team have a good chance of earning the success levels they desire. Most of my income has gone towards that this past two years, but I take it as a necessary investment.

Now, I do know of some leaders who achieve a pin rank by manipulation. The make exaggerated income claims, and false promises to entice people to throw in a lot of money for these positions. They can win once only. In the long term, they lose out, because their put their good name against their greed. I feel sorry for such leaders. In time, the word will get out, and nobody would trust them anymore.

As you correctly stated, MLM is a marathon, not a sprint. Its a very long term business and we create many friendships along the years. Good relationships can be built in across many angles, not just upline and downline. The Singapore leaders are a great example. There is a strong spirit of sharing and togetherness. Everytime the company has a get together, we have such a great time. I must mention Richard Koh, Patrick Ser, and Aidoros. We are from different teams but we get along very well. I even invited Aidoros to sit in my Winners strategy meeting. I didn't see any problems in sharing the ideas that we had, with him, although he is not in my downline.

You know, I used to do open meetings in Malaysia when I first got here, informed the company to invite leaders from other lines to attend my meetings. We did okay. I got Jeff Altgilbers and Dave Phillips to some of our meetings. But later on, I realized I was the only one organizing these open meetings. And of course, I had to bear the costs alone. No other leader had ever invited me or my team to a meeting with their upline. So, in the end, I decided that where no US upline are involved, I will run meetings for my team only.

When Dave Daughtrey comes here, he is always at the invitation of certain leaders. Mike Akins used to also come at private invitations. I made my feelings very clear to both Dave and Mike that in order for us to grow strong and solid in 4Life, the top leadership must set the example. I encouraged Dave and Mike to make time for “open meetings” when they come to our area, so that EVERYBODY can benefit from their wisdom.

The last time that Dave came to Malaysia at some of his other leader’s invitation, he called me to let me know he has one evening he can put aside to do training with my team. Guess what I did? I asked the company to announce it, so that Dave could do the meeting at the 4Life office, open to ALL distributors. Dave was okay with it. The company was happy. I was happy, and we had a good turnout that night! I could have acted selfishly, if I wanted to. I had the option to use Dave exclusively for my group. But I chose to share Dave’s time with everyone.
I wish we could get on this track with the top leadership that comes here to do training. Make time to have an open meeting for everyone. Arrange it with the company. I am very sure, many distributors will be very pleased to have the chance to meet with and listen to the wisdom of these top leaders. To come halfway across the world exclusively for one team only seems quite a shame.

Anyway, yes, back to the topic of being first. What you say is true. It’s not about being first. It’s about who lasts. But being first is a nice record to make. It takes some tremendous effort and drive. It’s the type of “thing” that make champions Muhammad Ali is out of the ring now, for good, but everybody still remembers his name…

I hope you look me up when you come Kevin. I have some complicated comp plan questions to ask you. We all know how good you are at this! See u soon.

Success, peace and love
Sheri Din
