Subject: Brazilian Elections

Dear Editor,
Even though it is very unrealistic to expect Heloísa Helena Lima de Moraes Carvalho to win the election, she would make a great Brazilian president.
Her platform policies include decreasing interest rates, implementing agagrian reform, and shortening the workday without cutting wages. Decreasing the interest rates will allow the economy to grow seven percent, freeing 40 billion dollars which she abitiously plans to use to create more jobs and to spend on infrastructure, sanitation, and energy costs. These measures will not only boost the the economy, but also imporve the way of life for the Brazilian people. So will her agragarian reform in which she plans to settle 250,000 families per year on their own land.
She is not afraid to stand up for what she believes is right. She cares about the people of Brazil and wants to do what's best for them. When she didn't agree with the Workers' Party reform which would raise the retirement age and remove benefits of workers, she voted against it. She even played a part in forming her current party, the Socialism and Freedom Party, when she was expelled from the Workers' party for voting against neoliberal policy.
Carvalho took part in student protests against the military. She was also a deputy mayor, a legislative deputy, and part of the Senate. This strong political background will help her create a better Brazil, one in which the government focuses on the democratization of the state, and the country's wealth, land, and culture (Carvlho).
Sincerely,
Carolin Pezeshki
